It’s beyond comprehension how life brings us such highs generally followed by severe lows. I found more of my writings from 2012 today; today In 2021 is a somber day as I learn of another untimely death of a young soul. My heart aches for his family just as it aches for all of those taken to soon. My Writing from 2012 speaks of how that morning I read an article about how a mother of the Columbine school shooters prayed after she learned of what was happening. She learned her son was one of the shooters and prayed he would take his own life before he hurt anyone else that day. Then only a few hours later I came across a poem written by one of his victims that day.
Rachel Joy Scott wrote only days before her untimely death: “I’m drowning in my own lake of despair. I’m choking, my hands wrapped around my neck. I’m dying. Quickly my soul leaves, slowly my body withers. It isn’t suicide. I consider it homicide! The world you’ve created has led to my death!”
Let’s take a moment to reflect on her poem. How the truth rings through her words. So much death and sorrow has filled our world- the highs often become forgotten when the lows swoop in!
Proverbs 15:4 says Gentle words bring Life and Health; a deceitful tongue crushes the spirit.
How often we speak harshly or too quickly and someone gets hurt. Take a moment before you speak to reflect on the words before you say them.
Too often we find there is No more time, no other instance to take it back.
Too many gone to soon!
I pray for All the mothers and fathers that have lost a child! May God give rest to your mind and grace to your heart! Such sorrow brings anguish to the soul. I have no words of comfort, but I will trust in the Lord that he’s building an army of young souls for a very special purpose beyond our human minds consumption!
